(More customer reviews)I am a teacher and this cookbook was given to me as a gift by a student. I absolutely LOVE it. I'm not a "natural" in the kitchen... I am always in charge of bringing ice or Cokes to events. But, this cookbook makes cooking not only easy, but pleasurable(!) and vegetarian friendly.
If you are hosting a party, it breaks down chapters into seasonal foods or themes(golf party, salsa party, BBQ hoedown, etc...), but these parties are fun and "doable" and not serious and Martha Stewartesque. This is a blessing for someone who doesn't have time or inspiration to put an event together. However, it is also easy to use the index and pluck out something tasty for this evening.
There are suggestions to go with each theme (decorations, activities, music, invitations.) The chapters always list an appetizer, drink, main course, and dessert. Recipes list calories and grams of fat. Helpful hints and food facts are listed throughout. And, best of all, every single thing I've cooked from this book has been excellent. You've got to try the restaurant quality "Country Corn on the Cob" and super tasty "Mulled Punch." My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Finally, a cookbook for the kitchen-phobes!
